Karaikal has a number of temples. Hence Temples are the major sight seeing attraction of Karaikal.

Karaikal Ammaiyar Temple: 

This temple is in the main street of Barathiar Street in the center of Karaikal. It was constructed in the year 1929 by Malaiperumal Pillai. The main goddess is Punithavathi also known as Karaikal Ammaiyar. There is also a sanctum for Vinayakar inside this temple.

Saneeswaran Temple: 

Situated about 5 Kms from Karaikal, this temple dedicated to Sri Darbaranyeswarar is actually famous for Lord Saneewsaran. This is the place from where Nalachakravarthy got relieved from the evil influence of Saturn. Once in 2 1/2 years a great Sanipeyarchi festival is celebrated and attended by lakhs of pilgrims from all over India.

Kailasanathar Temple: 

This temple is situated near Karaikal Ammaiyar temple. It has four major entrances. During French peiod this temple was contructed part by part. This temple is believed to be about 200 years old.

Nithya Kalyana Perumal Temple: 

This temple is situated near Karaikal Ammaiyar temple. There are sanctums for Alamelu Thaayar and Aaandal inside this temple. Rama Navami, Vaikunta Ekadesi, Anuman Jayanthi and the entire month of Margazhi are celebrated in a grand manner in this temple.

Jambunatha Swamy Temple: 

This temple is situated in Neravy. According to history, this temple was constructed by Thirumalai Rayan who ruled this region between 1453 and 1468 as a representative of Vijaya Nagar Empire.
