Welcome to TSCII Tamil Fonts download page

This website uses the Tamil Standard Code for Information Interchange (TSCII) - which is the Standard Font Encoding scheme for Tamil.

In order to view News and Archive pages, you need a TSCII conformant font (like - Anjal InaimathiTSC, MylaiTSC, MadhuramTSC, Sri-TSC or TneriTSC).  Tamil font named TneriTSC.ttf which can be freely downloadable from this page. Use


 

Installing and Using Tamil fonts

Note: Tamil pages are best viewed with Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.x and Netscape Communicator 4.x.

1) TneriTSC

If you would just like to read our tamil pages, you need to download TneriiTSC font and install it in your Windows machine.

a) You will need an unzip program like PKUNZIP or WINZIP to unzip and save it to a directory. (download now)
b)  If you use Internet Explorer 4.X and above, download now  (Note: Netscape 3.X browsers can not download from this link )
c)  Download tneritsc.exe file (download now) in any folder and double click the file to extract.

Steps to be followed to download:

1. Click on the link download
2. You will see a dialog box - in that select "save file to disk"
3. Save it in a drive/folder of your choice. Let us say you save it to your desktop

Steps to be followed to install fonts:

1. Go to control panel, select settings, select fonts.
2. Select file option, select install new font.
3. Select Windows then Desktop directory (or wherever you have downloaded the font), select the font "Tneri TSC" from the list on the top and click ok. The font will be installed in your machine. Now you can read the Tamil pages.

2) Anjal 2.02

Installing Anjal 2.0 is very easy. If you have downloaded it, just run the exe file. If you have the CD version, just click on the "Install Murasu Anjal 2.0" button. Anjal provides the font 'InaimathiTSC' which helps to read our tamil pages. Anjal also helps you to send and receive Tamil emails, type short texts in tamil using built-in Murasu Editor. Just remember to start Anjal everytime you start your computer. You may want to place it in your startup folder so that it gets started everytime Windows starts. Remember that Tamil input and Anjal fonts will be disabled if you do not have Anjal running.
